@user-ea78b7 as written in the linked message

Android OS v8, v9, and v11 are supported. But v10 is not. If you are using one of the supported OS there should be no need to upgrade.

user-ea78b7 06 October, 2021, 09:56:01

Gotcha, thanks for the rapid feedback. We are running v8 and will continue to do so until the companion app requires us to upgrade.

papr 06 October, 2021, 09:56:51

Good luck with your project! Let us know how it goes 🙂

user-ea78b7 06 October, 2021, 10:08:19

Thanks!

papr 06 October, 2021, 10:10:31

This is indeed the latest Pupil Invisible Monitor version. It does not have support for remote control. But the Companion app allows some remote control via the network API: https://docs.pupil-labs.com/developer/invisible/#remote-control

user-ea78b7 06 October, 2021, 10:11:52

Thanks again, I'll look into that.

Does anybody have experience with analyzing data from the Invisible with Tobii Pro Lab?

user-a50a12 08 October, 2021, 06:34:31

Hi, are you aware of any recent publications that have used Pupil Invisible successfully in younger children (4 year old)? From the messages here I see it should work in ages 3 and up, but I am currently drafting a grant application and it would be nice to be able to show that it works and has already been done and published in peer-review...

marc 08 October, 2021, 07:49:37

In our anecdotal experience the biggest problem was to fixate the glasses on the children's head, as they large for the small heads. Once fixated the data quality was fine. Using a headstrap helped in those cases!

wrp 08 October, 2021, 07:21:33

I am not aware of any publications with Pupil Invisible and children yet. What I can say is that we have tested it in-house with a number of children ranging from age 3-7 and found that gaze estimation (qualitatively) looks good. We do not have any statistics to share on performance with kids however.

user-413ab6 09 October, 2021, 09:46:47

Is there any way to get head pose from Pupil invisible?

user-6ef9ea 11 October, 2021, 10:19:41

Hi everyone. Is there a keyboard shortcut or any other way to set the trim mark to the current frame in Pupil player?

papr 11 October, 2021, 10:28:12

Hi, no there are no keyboard shortcuts for that. You would need separate keyboard shortcuts for left and right, correct?

user-6ef9ea 11 October, 2021, 10:29:11

yes, or maybe it would be enough to move the nearest trim mark (unless your video is too short)

papr 11 October, 2021, 10:30:22

What you can do is to set the trim marks manually in the general settings. See the Frame index range to export text field

user-6ef9ea 11 October, 2021, 10:31:42

ah, perfect, I don't know how I missed that

user-5543ca 12 October, 2021, 12:07:35

Hello! I'm writing an ethics application for a project using Pupil Invisible and looking for information related to IR safety pertaining to the device. Could you please direct me to it?

marc 12 October, 2021, 12:36:27

Hi @user-5543ca! All our eye trackers have been tested for IR safety in accordance with EU norms. You can see an overview here, see "Eye Safety":

I have a problem with the glasses or the connection. I can't open the live preview and, when I try to watch a recording, I get 'This recording contains no scene video'. It worked just fine earlier. I connected as usual, with the usual provided cable and another usbc-usbc cable. I tried reseting the app, the phone... Nothing worked 😦 Did it ever happened to one of you? Or do you know who I should contact for help/repair?

marc 14 October, 2021, 05:42:41

Hi @user-e0a93f! When connecting the glasses to the phone, do the icons for eye and scene camera at the top of the home screen indicate a connection like in the screenshot below, or do they stay gray?

When using another 3rd party cable there can be connection problems, as the high data volume produced by the glasses requires a very high-quality cable. Using another cable could not lead to permanent damage though.

If the cameras do not seem to connect, this most likely indicates some kind of hardware failure and we should look to facilitate a repair. To get that started please send an email to [email removed] requesting a repair referencing this conversation. Please also include the serial number of your Pupil Invisible (see the tip of the left temple).

user-e0a93f 14 October, 2021, 11:40:39

@marc Thanks. Yes icons are colored, but when I start recording they do not move on the circle as usual.

marc 14 October, 2021, 11:52:38

Could you try to the following please? 1) Disconnect the glasses 2) Force stop the app: click and hold the app icon, select "app info", select "force stop" 3) Restart the app and see if the glasses connect properly

user-e0a93f 14 October, 2021, 11:55:53

@marc Did not work and now the ivons are greyed :(

marc 14 October, 2021, 11:59:59

Thanks for the test. This unfortunately confirms a hardware failure. What looked like a connection before was just falsely cached. The missing connection we see now is actually correct. To facilitate a repair, please proceed as described above!

user-fb5b59 14 October, 2021, 13:52:14

Hey guys, sometimes we are getting the following error message. Do you know what could be the problem? We are using a OnePlus8 (and a OnePlus6, but we never got such an error there).

Chat image

marc 15 October, 2021, 08:15:56

Hi @user-fb5b59! It's difficult to say if this is a problem with hardware or software just from the error message. Do you have a recording available that was recorded when this error showed up that you could share with [email removed]

user-fb5b59 15 October, 2021, 10:11:13

These are the only two files we would have from such a recording. Seems to be that a lot of files are missing (which is somehow stated in the error message given above)

user-2d1406 16 October, 2021, 22:11:39

hello, do the eyetrackers track pupil dilation?

wrp 18 October, 2021, 06:44:52

Hi @user-2d1406 👋

Pupil Invisible does not provide data for pupillometry. The eye cameras are off-axis and for some gaze angles (sometimes the pupils of the wearer aren't even visible!) This is not a problem for gaze estimation as higher-level features in the eye images are leveraged by the neural network. However, it does make it difficult to do pupillometry robustly which is why we did not include pupillometry data (eye centre/dilation).

Pupillometry data is available with Pupil Core. Check out our notes on best practices in the docs here: https://docs.pupil-labs.com/core/best-practices/#pupillometry

user-0e7e72 19 October, 2021, 13:02:56

Hi, I notice that PI world camera has a kind of auto-exposure feature that adapts to the luminosity of the environment, is it possible to deactivate it and put a fixed value for it? Thank you very much!

papr 19 October, 2021, 13:07:00

Hi, unfortunately, auto-exposure cannot be disabled

user-9b78f0 20 October, 2021, 19:25:50

How to make sense of the data that is recorded in the excel. Also, when my eye is closed, data is still recorded. How to make sense between data for eye open vs data for eye closed?

papr 20 October, 2021, 19:46:05

Hi, you can find the documentation for the Pupil Cloud Raw Data Exporter format here: https://docs.pupil-labs.com/cloud/enrichments/#raw-data-exporter

We are also actively working on an algorithm to classify blinks. Follow the announce channel to stay up-to-date.

Hello Everyone from Argentina.

user-4f01fd 29 October, 2021, 15:12:12

Why my Pupil Monitor is not running in my Mac Monterrey 12.0.1?

papr 29 October, 2021, 16:32:20

Unfortunately, the app has not been updated to be compatible with macOS Bug Sur 11+. I will try to fix this next week.

user-4f01fd 29 October, 2021, 17:39:10

Hope you can, thank you papr !!!

user-4e558c 30 October, 2021, 19:24:05

Hi, yesterday I confirmed installation of the official OS/security patches on the OnePlus which came with our Invisible. I left the phone unattended to do its job. Now it does not boot anymore and is stuck in "QUALCOMM CrashDump Mode". I can get it into the fastboot mode so the recovery should be doable on our end (with a small chance of fully bricking the device). We bought Invisible (which came with this phone) a bit less than two years ago. Would an attempt to recover the phone break the warranty? Is there actually any?
