Okay! Our current VR add-on is used a lot for research and prototyping. Some users buy the add-on and develop their own mounts for different HMDs. We also have a repository called hmd-eyes that contains the building blocks to implement eye tracking in Unity3D. Most users start there to build their applications. If you're interested, check out the developer docs: https://github.com/pupil-labs/hmd-eyes/blob/master/docs/Developer.md

Does the VR add-on for the Vive also work wtih the (newer) Vive Focus 3?

Hi @user-6f0af8 👋 ! Our VR eye-tracking add-on is currently only compatible with the HTC Vive, Vive Pro, and Vive Cosmos. We can offer a de-cased version of our add-on with cameras and cable tree for custom prototyping. If you are interested, please reach out to [email removed]

I have a question about the VR eyetracking add on and interfacing with unity. If I want to save eye recordings as an avi, or a folder of frames, How do I go about doing that? How do I specify the video format of pupil labs.

neil 11 August, 2023, 07:44:33

Hi @user-bd82aa! Our software records the eye videos as .mp4 files. There's no turnkey way to change that. May I ask why you would want to do so?

Hi pupil, I am using the VR add-on for HTC Vive, and I am having trouble with eye detection in one of the eyes. The eye appears in the corner of the camera frame and is very poorly detected. Is there any way to improve this in the software way?

Hi @user-13fa38! Could you share a screencapture of the eye video? That will enable us to provide some concrete feedback/tips for improvement.

Hi I am trying to use the pupil labs htc vive binocular add-on for research purposes. I was wondering if there is any information about where the cameras are positioned relative to the eye (and the light sources if that information is available)

eleonora 23 August, 2023, 15:33:04

Hi @user-caa6dc 👋 I've attached a pic of the HTC Vive binocular add-on to help clear things up. You'll spot two IR illuminators on the rings (in orange), and the scene camera is positioned at the lower part. Please note that the exact camera positions relative to the eyes can vary based on the individual's facial structure and eye physiology.

Hope this gives you a better idea! Feel free to follow up if you have more questions 🙂

Thank you very much for the info, it looks like I will have to take some measurements of my own in that case
