We're confident it would fit into the HTC Vive as there is plenty of room. That said, we haven't tested it with the HMDs you've mentioned. We do plan to try it with some HMDs (specifics unknown as yet) in the coming weeks, so we can certainly follow up when we have something more concrete!
Great! ...and, is there a pipeline for offline alignment of the recorded gaze signal with the virtual display? ...and what about real-time visualization of the gaze data direction Unity (e.g., for gaze contingent displays)? ...basically, will it work with the HMD-Eyes plugin?

Another critical question : Have you guys resolved the hardware issue that prevented temporal synchonization of the IMU and gaze data in the Pupil Invisible?
Yes, the IMU data can be timestamped by the eye camera clock making it possible to synchronize them!
Your choice of words there is a bit funny. It "can be," is very different than saying that it is already timestamped correctly. Are there issues with the timestamping?
Not every detail about how the different clocks will work together is completely set yet. We do not expect any issues with timestamping and syncing IMU data with gaze data though! We will share more info on the details as they become available before the launch!
A very non-technical request: please make frames with nosepads! I've had countless complaints from testing subjects that the bridges of their noses didn't accommodate for the Invisible's frames. This didn't affect measurements per se, but may have influenced testing behavior due to discomfort. Purely anecdotal, but this complaint was common in subjects from demographics that tended to have non-European noses (i.e. low nose bridges)...
Thanks for the feedback - Noted π
Hi, great gear! Congratulations! What is the final cost? Neon (5200 euro) + ???? Do I pay for software or any other services? Does the price 5200 include VAT? Thanks!
Hi @user-1fc702! The price of Neon will is 5900 EUR and with academic discount it is 5200 EUR. This includes the Neon module with the default "Just act natural" frame and a Companion phone. Those prices do not include VAT or potential import fees. The software, including Pupil Cloud and the Neon app, is free.
Thanks Marc. Will the shipments be in February or any delays are possible? If I order in February, what might be the deliver time?
We are currently not expecting any delays and still estimate shipments to start in February. We are also not expecting lead times to increase much until February! We usually ship within a maximum of 10 business days, most of time its faster.
Hello, could anyone tell me if the Neon device has the function of eye blink detection and counting? π―
Hi @user-71ed95! Yes, we will adapt the blink detection algorithm currently available in Pupil Cloud for Neon and make that available. If using Neon with Pupil Capture and the Pupil Core gaze estimation pipeline, you could also use Pupil Core's blink detection algorithm. Both algorithms detect blink events with timestamps for the on- and offset of the blink. You could easily count the number of events.
ok! thank you!
Dear Pupil Labs. We are currently handing in a DFG proposal and our ethics commitee requires the CE certificate of the Invisible or Neon, could you send it to me? Either here or [email removed]
Hi @user-34aead! The certification for Neon is not quite done yet, but I have sent the document for Invisible via email!
Thank you very much Marc!
I'm reading that NeonNet will only be in Android? What about non-phone based compute devices?
Correct! Similar to how Pupil Invisible already works, real-time gaze estimation will only be available via the Companion Android phone. Post hoc calculation will also be available via Pupil Cloud. Other platforms will initially not be supported.
Ok thatβs too bad. I need to run outside of Android. Will the hardware work with any of your software that is non-Android?
While the data has to be computed on an Android phone, it can be accessed in real-time on any other device using the real-time API (which will work the same for Neon as it currently does for Pupil Invisible). The API allows you to stream data over the local network. See here for an introduction: https://docs.pupil-labs.com/invisible/real-time-api/introduction/
For data analysis the recommended tool is Pupil Cloud, which is accessible in the browser from all common platforms.
