World Camera Issues
Is it possible to start pupil capture with just one eye? So its just one window, without eye1 and world? Alternatively: Which class would I need to call in python in order to get the same behavior?
Hi @user-84387e , this is possible if you disable one of the eye cameras in the General Settings tab and detach the world camera. However, then you will not be able to do a standard calibration, although you can still measure pupil diameter and 3D eye state.
If you'd like a reference, there is an individual who found a way to do calibration for the type of setup you are describing.
Hello Everyone,
My name is Eswar Kurni, and I am a graduate student at Indiana University, Bloomington. Our lab uses a core tracker to record gaze positions in infants. I am reaching out to inquire if there is a way to obtain the inter-eye distance or inter-pupillary distance from the software or through calculations from the videos recorded earlier.
Thank you!.
Hi @user-67b034 , while we do not a function that outputs this for Pupil Core recordings, you can estimate it yourself from the provided 3D eye centers, which are specified in scene camera coordinates after calibration. Just note that it will be dependent on the quality of the 3D Eye Model fit and that of the calibration.
EDIT: My colleague, @user-4c21e5 , clarified this for me. Apologies for any confusion, if you saw the earlier version of this post.
Surface tracking problems
I was wondering if there is a way to introduce a video into the pupil player and obtain the data using the export function as with the videos recorded with the pupil capture; is that possible?
Hi @user-6a6d64! I'm not 100% sure I understand the question. Could you please elaborate? π
I was wondering if it would be possible to upload any .mp4 video in the pupil player
That means that the video was not recorded with the pupil capture but with any other recording program
I tried and it was not possible becuase pupil player needs more data but, I was wondering if there is any way of doing that
I see. Loading any .mp4 video into Pupil Player and exporting gaze and pupil data is not possible. You would need the native Pupil Capture recording and associated files.
Ok, I see. Then, there is no possible way. Thx!
@user-4c21e5 @user-f43a29 Thank you for your message regarding the IED calculations. I am looking at the eye_center0_3d_x, eye_center0_3d_y, and eye_center0_3d_z values for the right and left eyes, respectively, as you suggested. With these values, how can I calculate the inter-eye distance? Thank you.
Hi @user-67b034 , you simply find the Euclidean distance between them for eye0 and eye1.
Hi there, do you know where I can find the serial number of my Pupil Core glasses? I would like to insure the glasses as they are part of our research equipment and the insurance company is asking for a serial number but I cannot find one.
Hi @user-0b1050 ! Is this for inventory purposes? There isnβt a serial number per se on Pupil Core systems, but you can use the Order ID for tracking.
Hi, it is actually for checking the equipment by customs because we are shipping it to another country. They will need some kind of identifier to check if the device is exactly the one that we have sent. If the glasses don't have any serial number printed on them, I am not sure how else they could be identified.
Got it! thanks for clarifying! I think the best option is to tag them with the Order ID.
That way customs can use it as a unique identifier and match it to your paperwork.
Hello! It's a pleasure being here. My name is Juan, and I'm from Uruguay. I've recently been tasked to translate and make documentation accesible, as well as learning how to use the Pupil Core devices we have here in my uni for future investigations. They have been sitting on a shelf for 5 years with no use, so I'm coming in blind. I'll probably come around here often if anyone would like to help me. Just a bunch of questions I have for now: How are other users implementing the Core glasses away from a PC? Is Android compatibility still a thing? Any computing devices to recommend for use outside? Thank you so much!
Hi @user-227e3d , welcome!
So, Pupil Mobile, the Android app for Pupil Core, has been deprecated. For mobile uses, you can connect Pupil Core to a laptop and put that in a backpack. You could also connect it to a LattePanda and try that, although we have not tested it ourselves. Note that we do not officially support the Raspberry Pi.
Thank you so much for the answer, Rob! I'll look into getting a LattePanda just to test, if I do I'll post my findings here!
