@everyone big announcement for Pupil Cloud 👀

In 2019, we introduced Pupil Cloud as a web-based platform to support eye tracking research and handle the technical challenges—such as data storage, analysis, and visualization—so researchers can focus on their work.

At launch, the emphasis was on building a solid foundation for data collection, including reliable uploads, secure storage, wearer management, customizable templates, and playback for qualitative analysis.

Over the past four years, Pupil Cloud has expanded to offer blink and fixation detection, manual and automated gaze mapping enrichments, AOI analysis, various visualizations, and much more. Today, Pupil Cloud hosts terabytes of recording data and has powered thousands of compute hours for data enrichments.

We are thrilled to see so many users embrace Pupil Cloud and are inspired by how you apply it to novel challenges every day.

Our community does a great job of pushing the existing tools to their limit and we receive numerous challenging feature requests that we aim to fulfill in line with the vision of Pupil Cloud.

However, the costs generated by data storage and cloud computing, including sophisticated AI algorithms, have begun to exceed what we can sustainably offer for free. To continue delivering new features, we will introduce paid add-ons that extend Pupil Cloud’s functionality.

In the base version, there will be a storage capacity for recordings of 2 hours per device and account. Everything else that exists today will remain free: uploads, downloads, templates, wearers, workspaces, existing enrichments, visualizations, API access, etc. Paid add-ons are outlined below:

We are introducing two paid add-ons for Pupil Cloud that extend the functionality of your devices:

Unlimited Storage Add-On This add-on increases the available storage capacity of a device to unlimited recording hours. Price: EUR 750 / year / device (EUR 500 with EDU discount)

Anonymization Add-On This add-on adds additional data privacy features: automatic face anonymization on upload and custom data processing agreements. Price: EUR 1150 / year / device (EUR 830 with EDU discount)

These changes will go live on October 28th. We are working on many new features and believe some of them will truly shake things up! We can’t wait to share them with you in the upcoming months and we are excited to see what you will do with Neon + Pupil Cloud!

@everyone We're excited to announce new updates for Pupil Cloud! We've rolled out improvements to the Marker Mapper, Downloads tab, and recording timeline to enhance your experience.

Marker Mapper You can now choose the image used for Marker Mapper visualizations—either select a frame from your scene video or upload a custom image containing the surface. This selected image will be shown in side-by-side views and AOI and heatmap visualizations.

Downloads tab The Downloads tab in project view has been simplified, allowing you to customize which recordings to include in your downloads.

Timeline We've added visualizations for fixation and blink events to the recording timeline, offering a quick overview at a glance, plus a new search field to quickly find events!
